Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Ensure it's Halal
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed Must be cold for flaky texture
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Ingredients
  • to taste chocolate chips or dried fruits Optional additions for variety

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well until mixed evenly.
  2. Gently incorporate the cold, cubed butter into the dry mixture using your fingers or a pastry cutter. Work it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly add this to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  4. If you’re using chocolate chips or dried fruits, fold them into the dough at this stage.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and turn the dough out. Gently knead it a few times and shape it into a disc about 1-inch thick. Cut it into triangles or rounds.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
  2. Arrange the scones in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Serving
  1. Once done, let the scones cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm, topped with your favorite spreads!

Notes

Keep an eye on your scones as air fryer models may differ. Ensure your butter is cold for the best texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, refrigerate for a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, pop them in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
