Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans canned salmon, drained (about 14-15 oz total)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat) for extra flavor
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by draining the canned salmon thoroughly. Flake it into a large mixing bowl using a fork. Make sure to remove any bones if you prefer a smoother texture.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, the egg, chopped green onions, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and lemon juice to the bowl with the salmon. Mix everything with a fork until well combined.
  3. Using your hands, form the salmon mixture into patties about 2-3 inches in diameter. You should get about 8 patties from this recipe.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil. Place the patties in the basket, making sure they are not crowded. You might need to do this in batches.
  2. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the patties from the air fryer. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or toppings. Enjoy with a side salad or steamed veggies for a complete meal!

Notes

Substitutions: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option or Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise for a lighter dish. Common mistakes to avoid include an overly wet mixture; if it seems too soupy, add more breadcrumbs for shaping.
