Ingredients

Pastry Ingredients
  • 2 sheets sheets of puff pastry (thawed) Ensure pastry is Halal-certified.
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Use dairy-free alternative if needed.
  • 1 each egg (for egg wash)

Method

Preparation
  1. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon and sugar. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Lightly brush melted butter over the pastry sheets.
  4. Generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered pastry.
  5. Cut the pastry into strips, approximately 1 inch wide. Twist each strip several times and place in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the twisted pastries.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Cook the twists for 8-10 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.
Serving
  1. Allow the twists to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them plain or with a drizzle of icing for extra sweetness.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. To reheat, place in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes.
