Ingredients
  

For the churro dough
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs Can be substituted with flaxseed meal for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For coating
  • 1/2 cup sugar For coating the churros.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds flavor to the sugar coating.
For preparation
  • Cooking spray Cooking spray For spraying churros before air frying.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms. Let it cool slightly.
Forming the Churros
  1. Once the dough has cooled for a few minutes, add 2 large eggs and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner cut off to shape your churros.
  3. Carefully pipe the dough into long strips (about 4 to 6 inches) onto a sheet of parchment paper.
Cooking
  1. Spray the churros lightly with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  2. Cook for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Coating and Serving
  1. While still warm, mix together 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. Roll the churros in the mixture until coated.
  2. Enjoy your churros warm with your favorite dipping sauce such as chocolate or caramel.

Notes

Use nutmeg or lemon zest for a unique flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for about 3-5 minutes.
