Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 pieces chicken drumsticks Make sure they are halal-compliant.
Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Can substitute with coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Sesame seeds For garnish.
  • to taste Chopped green onions For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by rinsing the chicken drumsticks under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels, as this helps create that coveted crispy texture.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add the drumsticks to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes; if you have time, letting them soak up the flavors for longer (up to 2 hours) enhances the taste.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the marinated chicken drumsticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring there’s space around each piece for even cooking.
  2. Air fry them for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. Ensure your chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) for safety.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove the chicken drumsticks and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions to finish.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for about 5-7 minutes.
