Ingredients
  

For the Calzones
  • 1 package ready-made pizza dough enough for 2-3 calzones
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup halal pepperoni or turkey pepperoni
  • ½ cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by rolling out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
  2. In a bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, diced bell peppers, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  3. Cut the dough into circular pieces, about 6 inches in diameter and place the cheese mixture on one half of each circle.
  4. Fold over the dough to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges tightly or crimp with a fork.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush the top of each calzone with olive oil and place them in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching.
  3. Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Let the calzones cool slightly before serving, ideally with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Feel free to substitute fillings with other halal meats, veggies, or different cheeses. Store leftovers in an airtight container; refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.
