Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large apples (choose your favorite variety, such as Granny Smith or Fuji) Tart apples are recommended for balance.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Gluten-free alternatives can be used.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness are recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For flavor enhancement.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • as needed Cooking spray To prevent sticking in the air fryer.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing and peeling your apples. Cut them into thin, fry-like strips, making sure they are uniform in size for even cooking.
  2. In one bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, cinnamon, and sugar for flavor.
  3. Dust each apple slice in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip the floured slice into the egg wash, and finally place it into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (about 188°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated apple fries in a single layer within the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding for even cooking.
  3. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, shaking the basket halfway through for even crispiness.
  4. Once cooked, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly before serving. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Notes

For a twist, dust with powdered sugar, drizzle honey, or pair with yogurt. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (about 175°C) for about 5 minutes.
