  • 3 to 4 pounds chuck roast Use a well-marbled piece for best flavor.
  • 2 cups beef broth Low-sodium options can be used.
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix For added flavor.
  • 1 packet Italian dressing mix Adds a wonderful seasoning.
  • 1 stick butter Cut into slices for richer flavor.
  • 1 onion, sliced Adds sweetness and depth.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Use according to preference.

Preparation
  1. Gather all the ingredients listed above, ensuring the chuck roast is thawed if it was frozen.
  2. Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your crockpot and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Pour the beef broth over the roast and sprinkle the ranch and Italian dressing mixes evenly on top.
  4. Add the sliced onion around and on top of the roast, then slice the butter and place on top for added richness.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Notes

For variations, you can substitute garlic for the onion or add carrots and potatoes. Don't open the lid during cooking to maintain heat.
