Preparation
- Gather all the ingredients listed above, ensuring the chuck roast is thawed if it was frozen.
- Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your crockpot and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Pour the beef broth over the roast and sprinkle the ranch and Italian dressing mixes evenly on top.
- Add the sliced onion around and on top of the roast, then slice the butter and place on top for added richness.
Cooking
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
Notes
For variations, you can substitute garlic for the onion or add carrots and potatoes. Don't open the lid during cooking to maintain heat.
