- In a large skillet, over medium heat, cble and cook the ground sausage until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over the meat in the skillet. Stir well to ensure the flour is toasted slightly, for about 1 minute.
- Gradually pour in the milk while continually stirring to prevent lumps. Let it simmer on medium heat, stirring until the sauce thickens, around 3-5 minutes.
- Season your gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add red pepper flakes for heat.
- Serve the gravy over freshly baked biscuits or toast.
Notes
Store leftover gravy in an airtight container, refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze for 2-3 months. When reheating, add a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
