Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground sausage (mild or spicy blend) Choose a sausage with good flavor.
  • 2 cups milk (whole or a blend) For creaminess.
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour Used for thickening.
  • Salt and black pepper to taste Adjust to your preference.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, over medium heat, cble and cook the ground sausage until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over the meat in the skillet. Stir well to ensure the flour is toasted slightly, for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually pour in the milk while continually stirring to prevent lumps. Let it simmer on medium heat, stirring until the sauce thickens, around 3-5 minutes.
  4. Season your gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add red pepper flakes for heat.
  5. Serve the gravy over freshly baked biscuits or toast.

Notes

Store leftover gravy in an airtight container, refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze for 2-3 months. When reheating, add a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
