Ingredients
  

For the tacos
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded You can substitute with Halal-friendly protein like ground chicken or beef.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 12 pieces taco shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or Monterey Jack)
For the toppings
  • 1 cup lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your tacos bake evenly and come out crispy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with the taco seasoning. Make sure the chicken is well-coated for an optimal flavor.
  3. Carefully spoon the seasoned chicken mixture into each taco shell, filling them generously.
  4. Place a handful of shredded cheese over the top of the chicken in each taco shell; this will melt beautifully during baking.
Baking
  1. Arrange the filled taco shells on a baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese melts and the shells are golden brown.
Serving
  1. While the tacos are baking, chop the lettuce and dice the tomatoes. Set aside for serving.
  2. Remove the baked tacos from the oven. Top with fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For variations, try swapping shredded chicken for canned black beans or lentils for a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
