Ingredients

Fruit and Base
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen fruit (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Choose your favorite fruit and make sure it's Halal-compliant.
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds These seeds will help thicken the jam.
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional) Adjust sweetness to taste; can use sugar-free options.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds brightness; adjust based on fruit used.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Fruit: If using fresh fruit, wash and chop it into smaller pieces. If using frozen fruit, let it thaw slightly.
  2. Blend the Fruit: In a blender or food processor, add the prepared fruit and blend until smooth. For chunkier jam, blend to your desired consistency.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the blended fruit into a mixing bowl. Add in the chia seeds, honey or maple syrup (if using), and lemon juice.
  4. Mix Well: Stir the mixture thoroughly, ensuring that the chia seeds are evenly distributed throughout.
  5. Let it Sit: Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes. This lets the chia seeds absorb the liquid and thicken the jam.
  6. Stir Again: After 5 minutes, give the jam a good stir. If you want a thicker consistency, let it sit for another 5 minutes.
  7. Store: Transfer the jam to a jar or airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

For optimal freshness, store the jam in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. Can freeze servings for longer storage, up to 3 months. Simply thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
