  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk your choice of Halal dairy
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 1 medium apple, diced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Nuts or seeds for topping optional

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients. Grate the carrot and dice the apple.
Cooking
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats and water (or milk). Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Once the oatmeal begins to boil, stir in the grated carrot, diced apple, honey or maple syrup (if using), cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Reduce the heat to low. Stir the mixture constantly, allowing it to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it reaches your desired creamy consistency.
  4. Remove from the heat and serve hot. Top with nuts or seeds for an extra crunch if you like!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When reheating, add a splash of water or milk to revitalize the oats.
